Weatherization Crew Chief/Site Supervisor

Picture
*Qualifies for 8 Building Performance Institute (BPI) Continuing Education Units

Leading a team is hard work, but the Weatherization Crew Chief position is a particularly demanding one. As the technology of home retrofitting becomes more complex, so does the role and responsibilities of the Crew Chief.

This two-day interactive training will provide discussion, demonstrations, and “real world” scenarios designed for newly hired and experienced Home Performance Crew Supervisors. For the company owner, CEO or administrator, this training can help you evaluate your “policies and procedures,” staff assignments, and job descriptions.

A good Weatherization Crew Chief needs to have a handle on a variety of skill sets and training in a field that’s constantly evolving. This course will serve as a tune up, an opportunity to step back and sharpen your skills so you can lead your team through successful projects.

With an emphasis on residential work, this course will address:
  • Effective management of a weatherization team
  • Job site organization
  • Safety awareness
  • Proper material selection and application
  • Inspection and measurement at job sites
  • Administrative and training responsibilities, including validating compliance with federal OSHA, EPA and DOE guidelines
  • Effective communication skills
  • Diagnostic and installation standards for crew members
  • Ensuring proper installation of weatherization measures

The two-day format includes a PowerPoint presentation, group discussions, exercises and demonstrations designed to guide participants in ways to approach training and directing members of a construction crew.
