Combustion Analysis for Residential Heat

Picture
*Qualifies for 8 Building Performance Institute (BPI) Continuing Education Units

Residential heating system performance is a key factor in a home energy audit. Understanding both the fundamentals of how heating systems work and how to analyze them are key to helping your clients know what they have, how well it works, and what their options are for reducing energy use.

This two-day course will:
  • Cover how common residential gas, oil, and natural gas central space heating systems work.
  • Explore the combustion process, chimneys, appliance types, operating and safety controls, vent safety, carbon monoxide and heat rise measurements, electricity, and fuel delivery.
  • Train participants to perform tests on all types of gas and oil-fired systems and to recommend retrofits.
  • Discuss how to treat on and off cycle losses.
